Will's Good Day
We woke up in our cars. Well, sort of. I've found that sleeping in a car does not have definite beginnings or endings - it's really an involved process of constantly shifting in order to..
- Got Breakfast
- Saw Peter, crowd felt more whole
Jumped in the river and felt the resurrection
Found the campsite and set up
Fished with Megan by my side, explaining South Africa
...gone bad
We’d been driving for days now – me drifting in and out of
consciousness, picking up pieces of what they were saying. I’ve grown to like
this experience. It’s almost refreshing to just lie here sleeping, listening,
rocking from side to side, never knowing the beginning of something, never
knowing the end.
Megan’s talking about South Africa, and all her traveling
and cargo experiences there. She shouts to me, asking if I need a beer, then
she pulls over to the side of the road. My mouth gets wet – what I really want
is water, but beer will do. The car rocks, and I hear Peter’s voice now too.
The car wheezes to a start and we’re off again, lips dry, legs stiff,
enjoying aches because I’ve accepted the bumps and wheezes of this car and
I’ve accepted the taunts of its drivers.
